Refreshing finance.google.com and bringing all the old users with us.
The challenge
Finance.google.com hasn’t been touched in years and needed a revamp. This effort included new features, functionality, and UI design.
The first effort was to migrate old user profiles into the new system (including some with 100+ portfolios). The later effort included updating UIs and focusing on a mobile-first world.

Migrating users
To improve Google Finance, functionalities were streamlined and a new design style implemented.
In this improvement, a migration process was needed to move existing users’ portfolios into the new system. Complications laid in engineering constraints, edge cases, and dealing with large amounts of data.
